Helping the world with what we already have.
Gleaning the Fields is the non-profit arm of GTF. We exist to demonstrate our love for humankind by creating a global platform to connect businesses with excess resources to impoverished people around the world who need nutritional and material support.
Our Non-Profit:
Gleaning the Fields
Chronic malnutrition in third-world countries causes disease and death, increases healthcare costs, reduces productivity, and slows economic growth, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and ill-health.
Fortunately, more than enough food is produced to feed everyone on earth. Unfortunately, over one-third of our food is thrown out every year.
At Gleaning the Fields, we’ve found a way to economically and efficiently connect those who have excess food to those who need it. We are mitigating waste while also eradicating hunger and malnutrition.
Our for-profit sister company, GTF Technologies, powderizes excess plant materials with its innovative RENU™ Drying & Milling System. The resulting powders are nutrient-dense and can be rehydrated and blended with culturally appropriate foods to not just fill bellies but also provide important micronutrients.
We partner with existing non-profits that have established relationships with people in need. Our nutritious powders, financial contributions, and other material support supplements the excellent work of our partner organizations. We also work to connect businesses to non-profit partners, advising them on ways to utilize and donate their own excess materials.
-
Powders are shelf stable and can be shipped and stored safely, even in hot and humid environments. Plus, powders from RENU contain nearly all the nutritional compounds of the raw food.
-
Lack of food causes disease and increased variety of bacterial infections, edema, and poor or little wound healing.
Without proper fuel, the body suffers from fatigue, muscle wasting, headaches, dry skin, hair loss, pitted nails, joint pain, and stunted growth.
-
Not only does starvation and malnutrition impact the body, it also hinders developing nations from breaking the cycle of poverty.
When people are ill or weak, it prevents them from working, which increases poverty in those areas.
Minor illnesses can often lead to major illness or death, putting the families of those affected at risk.
